Serve and Return

Q: What is more important than the intentional dialogue and interaction between a teacher and a student in the classroom?

A: NOTHING!

I am attending the NAEYC National Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development this week in Minneapolis.  I heard this tidbit from one of the sessions:

We have more children at-risk right now due to a lack of intentional dialogue and interaction with adults.

This is a huge area of emphasis for us right now at Knowledge Universe.  What I love about the research around this topic is that research and common sense intersect.  It makes sense that the teacher-student relationship and interaction are paramount to success.  We have lots of work to do, but so glad we have begun the journey.
