My friend, who happens to be one of the world's greatest photographers, Richard R. Barron, recently posted about a filter that he applied to a picture that he took when he and I were hiking in Canyonlands. He applied the HDR filter and discovered a lot of data in the image that totally transformed the image.
I am including 2 shots here. The first was taken on the hike and show 4 different takes on picture. The first is the original edit with very few tweaks. The next 3 are all different versions of the Nik filter. (If you have a favorite of those 4, leave a comment please.)
Then the last two shots show what you can do with the filter even in a photo that you think may not have much detail.
