1 Samuel 17:3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.
The phrase "there was a valley between them" has significance. The Philistines and Israel has positioned themselves against one another through their action and words. We do the same in our marriages, workplaces, politics, and yes, even in our relationship with God.
We place a valley between ourselves and God the same way...
...with our words and our actions and also, our true hearts.
The difference here is that if there exists a valley between ourselves and God, it is of our own doing and not His. The good news is that if want to remove that valley all we need to do is walk down our mountain and walk up His!
Anybody up for some mountain climbing?
P.S. This also works for marriages, coworkers, friends, and even in politics.
